The Land

In the Land, Beauty, Emotion, and Virtue, and their opposites are real, physical qualities of existence. Hence all creatures and objects possess a native Morale Ability Score (ML) while they exist in the Land. In order for an item or area to possess magical power it must have an extreme Morale Score (8 or lower, 32 or more). Gold because of its nature is inherently Virtuous and thus is often magical but even the old stone of mountain peaks may have Morale enough to gain feats and thus have effects on the world around it.

Percipience

Percipience is the ability to sense the Morale property and will reveal the Morale Score category ("At peace", "corrupted", "virtuous", etc) of creatures and objects the character encounters. They can literaly see virtue, inherent creator-gifted beauty, or Despiser indiced woe and hatred. "Healthsense" is also a part of Percipience - in the earthpower rich eras, healthsense was but a small part. Because Morale is related to emotion and the virtuous state of a being or object, percipience gives bonuses to sense motive and animal handling in the form of empathy. In the Earthpower rich Land of the early ages that bonus is +8  (reduced to -4 in later ages). The act of observation and experience can also change the observer such that the morale of others can also affect them.

Percipience in the Earthpower Rich Eras

In the earthpower rich land, Percipience is such a strong and palpable ability that the morale of other creaturs or objects will have have stronger affects. Instead of +/-1 for interacting with an object or creature with a morale dfference of ten, it is +/-1 for morale differences of 5.  Sense Motive and Animal Handling recieve a +8 bonus instead of +4.

Percipience Overwhelmed

Also, without training, there is a chance of being overcome by another person's, creature's, or area's strong emotions. Without training this chance is equal to a wisdom check DC 20, with a 1 always failing. The DC of this check is increased if the character has undergone sudden changes in Morale in the last 24 hours. (greater than +/-8 with a +1 to DC for ever morale slot changes (+/4).  If the control check is failed, the character may react in unpredictable and abnormal ways as they are overcome with emotion. Freedom of Choice, Mind Blank and similarly powerful mental protections will negate the need for a check. With training this Control Check may be replaced by a concentration check.

Gift of the Land

For creatures not of the Land, when they first arrive, the Land and its earthpower bestows a gift. This gift is usually the restoration of something lost to the character - often something impossible to restore and often occures after the first night of rest. A lost limb might be mysteriously restored or a lost sense granted. This gift however only applies while the character is in the Land. With this gift comes a temporary boost of +10 to morale that lasts 48 hours and may result in Percipience Overwhelmed.
