The Morale Ability Score (ML)

Morale represents not only your character’s emotional and spiritual state of being, but is a measure of Beauty and Virtue which are physical properties in the Land. This beauty is not beauty in the personality or appearance sense but in a sense of intrinsic virtues and value reflecting the beauty the creator places in all things.  Morale is treated as an ability like Strength or Wisdom and it carries a Morale bonus or negative that affects reality around the character and the character's own existence, thus the ability is important for all classes. Characters born in the Land have an intrinsic morale score between 17-23. Although the course of a lifetime can significantly alter it from that base value. Players coming to Land will start with a current morale score determined by DM and conditions although inherent Morale should be rolled on 4d6 with the highest 3 dice taken. When a character gains 4 levels they may increase their Morale score permanently by 2 instead of increasing another ability score. Any affect which affects all ability scores also affects Morale.  Inanimate objects which contain earthpower (ie stone, wood, etc also have Morale). This trait is useless is other dimensions (known).

Character loses service of all henchmen temporarily.
Const now 7 lower. if  const becomes 0 then character becomes
misshapen and warped. If character becomes a thrall  or con reaches zero,
con temporarily returns to normal although body remains ematiated, strength +1 and
strength grows +1 for every -1 morale caused to others.
All negatives now become bonuses when doing despiteful acts
-30 or lower -6 Corrupted. Maligned by self hatred.
Despair leads to irritability and anger. Alignment suffers.  Move one slot towards
evil or chaotic. In stressful situations must make will save every rnd (DC25)
or commit one despotic act. (flee &leave comrades behind, do something bad,
commit evil act), const now 6 lower
All negatives now become bonuses when doing despiteful acts
-25 or lower -5 Ridden with Despair, hatred of self.
Acts as if under a symbol of despair (non magical). -8 spot & listen, -16 on
concentration checks. For ever morale point below 0 Charisms drops by 1.
if charisma drops to 0, character becomes a thrall of the despiser (knowingly
 or unknowingly). Const now 5 lower
-20 or less -4 Filled with Loss & Remorse or self loathing.
Listless and very difficult to be motivated. Must make will check (DC 25)
to attack, cast a spell, or exert energy on a task that takes more than 1 rnd.
Requires additional 8 hrs of sleep to be rested. May NOT recover spells. –6 on
spot and listen, -12 on concentration checks. Const now 4 lower
-15 or less -3 Cancerous. Upset stomach, constant feeling of nervousness and stress, -4 on spot and
listen, -8 on concentration checks. Constitution acts as if 3 lower. Will saves
at -5 (total). Requires additional 4 hrs of sleep to be rested.
May lower the morale of others (see triggers below).
-10 or less -2 Troubled. Character has nightmares and does not get decent sleep, -2 on spot, listen
and -4 on concentration checks for the day (even if morale is raised effects
last until good night of sleep). Constitution is lowered by 2 (treat as ability
damage that is revisited daily).
-5 or less -1 Saddened. Character is bummed out.
1-4 - +4  0 At Peace
Character is normal. No effects
5 or more +1 Happy.
Character immune to any ageing magics
10 or more +2 Inspired.
Skill checks take half the time, full round becomes standard, standard becomes quick,
quick or move related become free but are limited to one per round
15 or more +3 Virtuous.
Character gains DR 1 for every point above 31 (max dr 5)
Constitution is increased by 2 (Morale bonus to constitution)
20 or more +4 Holy.
Spells have their DCs increased by 2.
Character gains the ability to smite evil once a day for every 3 morale points above 33
25 or more +5 Truly Blessed, Joyous, or Exalted.
Character gains an additional Sacred or Exalted feat for every 4 morale points above 46
30 or more +6 Beautific
35 or more +7 Divine. Character gains an Exalted Epic Feat or a Divine feat instead of standard
40 or more +8 Character gains all Divine Level 0 immunities.

Morale Bonuses

Bonuses from a high Morale can act as a modifier to ALL roles. This bonus is treated as a Morale Bonus and thus does not stack with other Morale bonuses to a particular type of roll. 

You apply your character’s Morale modifier to:

Percipience reveals the Morale state of a target creature or area. 





 





Morale Adjustments. 

Morale can be adjusted by cuircumstances that would affect the characters emotions. These adjustments may be Temporary (T) - healing or fading as with ability damage, Long Lasting (L) - lasting a year or more, Conditional (C) - the adjustment occurs during certain curcumstances, and/or Conditonally Removed (CR) - the adjustment remains until certain cuircumstances remove it. Some adjustments may be Permanent (P).  

death of a liked NPC (-4 CR/raised)

watching rahyn being slaughtered (-2 L)

kresh poison: d4 (med) d8 (large) T, CR/healed of moral poison

being reduced to less than 10% of hit points (-1 CR/healing)

having a stat be reduced for a day (-1 CR/stat healing) (per different stat but not per point of reduction)

losing a  major power, major magic item, psionic ability (-3 L or CR/ability returned)

losing a limb (-5 P or CR/limb returned)

seeing a shattered place (-1 T) (((empathy hurts)))

+4 for being in Andelain (T) 

having a party member being severely impaired, maimed, or despaired (-2  L or C/when in presence)

being responsible for something bad – guilt: -3 to -8 (L or P,  CR/varies, possibly atonement or camorra)

+1 for having eaten alanthia berries that day T (up to +4)

death of a party member (-8 P or CR/raised)

being around someone who has 10 morale higher than you +1  or 10 lower than you -1 (T or C/while in presence)

ur vile acid will reduce stats and thus have morale effects. any effect which affects all stats also affects Morale.

Lame food:-1   (CR/when get better food))

Getting great food (+2 T)

Bad night sleep (-1 T  - CR/when get good nights rest)

Laughter/Mirth of a giant +4 (T)

Bardic affects that give morale bonuses also give similar bonuses to Morale score (T, C/while singing)

Camorra - removes negative Morale only - 1 point of negatve morale per 10 hit points in damage taken

Examples of old adjustments:

-         Revelstone gone -8 to kothlun

-         hearing of the hucharachi playing an evil role: -4 (kothlun)

finding out about power of command over hucharachi being used (-1 kothlun)

-         finding out lorocus is alive and active (-1 all)

seeing the hucharachi on steroids (-1 kothlun)

finding out about rahyn meat (-2 terrel, kothlun)

seeing a former friend (lord) as  Myddrall (-3 Kothlun)

Examples of some Land objects and creatures. For objects the Morale may reflect eons, centuries or millenia of aquired bonuses.

-         Mountan peaks in time of innocence. Joyous(ML 40) - exalted feat may be extended to those standing or beholding the stone dependent on feat.

-     The One Forest (pre cutting): Divine (ML 48)

-   Ur Viles: Vileific & Self Loathing (ML -8 or lower)

- Kresh  Corrupted (ML -4 or lower)
