This Union of Seekers was founded by the Aes Sedai Fiona and Connah McCloud after The Second War. (named because the war was one within a second inside a great time stop fashioned by Raistlin). As members of the intelligence gathering arm of the Aes Sedai, both Fiona and Connah realized that seeker
parties composed of adventurers were paramount to the operation of the Aes Sedai council and the protection of Avalon and shadow. To wit, they formed a psuedo-company, (in line with the theory of institutions as all companies must) that fostered and supported seekers that would do the hard work of
adventurers for these two Aes Sedai.
    Over the years they provided both Aes Sedai members with lots of important information and accomplished various tasks. Upon Fiona and Connah's retirement as Aes Sedai, the existance of the company and its service to the council was made known to the Dragon whom then deployed them on several missions to enhance the secuirity of Manetherin and resolve problems set in the Misma swamp. These missions eaned them favours from the Dragon and other members of the three Realms. As time went on, the company of seekers grew as did profits for the agency. The surviving, founding seeker members took on advisory roles and eventually drew up a charter for the union.
    Upon the death of the Dragon Rand Al'Thor, the company went public as one of the many Seeker-Adventurer companies but still maintained strong ties with the Aes Sedai goeverment and their contacts in the three different realms. their charter stands as one determined to provide expert aid and
information to the Aes Sedai council and the three realms. They have run missions soley for the belgariad, the army, and various sedai strands accruing a few favours along the way. The generation of leaders of the Fifth Union after the Al'Thors were determined to make the company not just simply a pawn of Manetherin but an agent of the people. They have at times bucked the requests of some members of the councils when it seamed morally encumbant. Inorder to help them make descissions as to what types of
missions they would accept, they invented a list of priorites. Later this list developed into the areas of specialization that this company has.

Observation and interdiction of the Courts of Chaos
- after the incident with Lorocus and a secondary pattern under manipulation by Mantis it was determined that the threat of chaos was one that could not be ignored. This was put at the top of their list and during the time they worked for Al'Thor they took many an adventure out into chaos. As per his order, they maintain their secret secondary base as close to the edge of chaos as possible - much training takes place there.

This has become a major specialization of the company. They have one of the few pattern mages known to exist in their circles, ready to help combat against the courts of chaos (or perhaps they have a converted chaos mage - they would go to great lengths to meet, talk with, and recruit Kothlun's son
who is currently not in The Land).

This specialization, the company has found, make sthem unique for certain missions and they have tried to use the pattern magic items and or chaos magic items they have aquired over the years to help them in their other endevours. They try to work with the Worlds 0f Men special council on Movements in
Shadow to combat any egress by the courts of chaos.

As part of the legacy Fiona left to this  company, they know about the GhostWheel and endevour to help and protect it in exchange for relevant information on approaches to Avalon. (she helped Kothlun get some of the crucial artifacts for its creation and would at some point have asked this favour of ghost).

They have a few members who have walked lesser patterns and aspire to be champions of the pattern. They always swear allegience to the solarian as they attempt to walk it.

Goals

Aid to the Knights of Sunsteel
in almost all cases the missions of those knights are thought to be very important and they aid where possible. Some members of those knights are in the Fifth Union of Seekers as well as Priests of The Dawn.

Preparation for the Final Battle
- to seek out, locate, and obtain, strange new (an old) items  to be used in the battles against the Dark One.
- this also involves the commisionof Belgariad items and pattern items (if possible) (the fifth order is probably a big customer of the belgariad).

Preparation for incursions by Chaos

The Following of and Indirect Aid to Legion of Gold members
- the group likes to be up on what the famous high level good characters are doing in far away shadows and help where possible. This includes recruting of Soul sword weilders trained by Kothlun and contacts in Sidhe.

The tracking down of any hunters of unicorn or where spell components made from unicorn horn have come from. One of their unstated goals is to find places where unicorn can be tended and protected if need be. Unicorn are thought to be embodiements of the Pattern and will be protected at all costs.
